Just got the book today. Haven’t read much but saw that Det. Sharon Hinesburg (who died in Deadly Heat) is in this book (pg. 32). Doesn’t seem like the kind of mistake Tom Straw (who wrote the first 9 Richard Castle books) would make.

Wasn't going to read this book after the same flawed story line destroyed a very popular TV show and then the last two books. Geez, what arrogance in the powers that be! But, I hoped they would try to give us back the great story line of two people deeply in love fighting crime. Well, after a huge continuity issue with a dead major character in a previous book and a quick remark by Heat to justify her horrendous behavior of the last two books, the story settled into what we came to expect in our two main characters. Not a difficult plot, but definitely fun to read. Not sure how this book will sell after The disastrous Heat\Storm fiasco, but I hope many of you give this a chance and a book 11 can be written without any remarks about the train wreck of books 8 and 9 and give us a well written book 11 with Heat\Rook romance and crime solving.

Whoever used to ghost write these stories isn’t doing it anymore. This was terrible. The characters used to be real people, but the writer has turned them into something from a bodice ripper romance novel. Sad that I wasted my money on it.

This book showed us what could have happened if they would have let Castle & Beckett have a nice wedding and then continued to solve murders together. Fun banter, nice use of the writers knowledge helping to solve the murder. If only...

From page one to the last word, Richard Castle has given the reader an outstanding non stop, keep turning the page journey follow James Rook and Nikki Head through a complex story from New York City to up state to new York to solve murder with James Rook as the key suspect. Keep these great adventures coming !!!

This was a great installment of the “Heat” series, based on the TV series “Castle.” Spell binding story and fascinating characters.

There's nothing critically-acclaimed about the writing by "Richard Castle", but it's light, easy prose that makes one miss Castle.

As with all "Castle" books, my fingers were tingling when I got it. It starts out well, with one of those mystery murders we like so much, then it takes off somewhere else and the initial secondary plot takes precedence over the first one, leaving the latter in the back ground. Although the secondary plot turns out to be interesting, one has to wonder what the first plot has to do with anything, and why Raley and Ochoa suddenly magically appear in the middle of the second... Overall, I liked it, but it is definitely not the best in the series and lacks some consistency.

Because Amazon merged my review to 2nd edition's page (dont you just hate that?) I have to specify: THIS IS FOR THE FIRST EDITION...This excellent book, in fact, probably the best book on the sports business I've read (which is about 12-15 for some perspective). My only wish is that the text would be updated but with post the year 2000 data and statistics. In this book many of authors cite that the NBA is the most financially successful league, obviously correct if your looking at the numbers from the 90's (as I write this, March 2010, the NBA is $400 million in the RED). Finally a text explains the why and how it came to be sports franchise owners and their leagues can legally get away with violating just about every antitrust statute; there is even a real world example of mezzanine finance included in this book. Some discussion about the issues regarding sports accoutning, but not enough in my opinion. This book has just almost everything you NEED to know about pro and even semi-pro sports, along with their respective histories.Not as in depth as a compendium but not as superficial as a survey, written and put together in a traditional "review" style text. Several authors several topics taken from their previous works contribute to this text, making some of the articles biased where others are pretty neutral towards the subject matter. Mostly it reads relatively dry and slightly academic, but with the amount of detail and research analyzed, its ok w/me; this book is not meant to be a "pop-economics" text.5 stars for detail, accuracy, relevancy...its easy to overlook its outdated data when a)you can do your own contemporaneous data research and supposition and b)see beginning of sentence. Also, its very nice for the price.NOTE: One last thing, this book does not concern itself with sports torts or player contracts/representation laws.

Great read! I'm currently a student in the SMBA program at San Diego State University and I had to read this for Sports Law class, which ironically was also taught by the author himself, Scott Rosner. This is a comprehensive look at the various focal points of business of sports along with some historical perspective, which really made the read enjoyable especially if you're interested in this subject!Definitely a must read for anybody who is looking to get more background information into the world of sports business.

My kid's high school no longer issues take-home textbooks; the physical books stay in class, and students have access to an online version. It's pretty frustrating to use an online textbook for homework or studying, and classroom notes only go so far. This isn't as complete as a real textbook and doesn't cover things as comprehensively as a beginner or a struggling student might need, but it's a decent addendum to other learning resources.This book handled all 3 of my concerns: first, it gives my kid an opportunity to see these concepts and problems explained in a different way than what he got in school; second, it's an easy-to use reference for homework; and last, it serves as a refresher for me (his reluctant tutor who learned Algebra II many years ago). I've used other "Dummies" books in the past, and found them all decent in covering their subjects, same for this edition.

I got a copy of this to assist one of my Algebra students. It does not explain topics thoroughly enough for a struggling to understand. In addition, there are not enough example problems to demonstrate the various concepts as they are introduced. I am still trying to find a better, affordable Algebra text to use with my students.

Great book. I needed algebra 2 review for an admission exam into my science grad school (have been out of school for over 10 years) and this was the perfect way to learn and understand the concepts. I was hung up on logarithms until this book made it so simple. Passed the exam easily. Would definitely recommend.

I own a lot of the "for dummies" math books and they're generally great for reviewing concepts, this one included. However, I 100% recommend getting the workbook version instead. Same content plus practice problems and examples.

I was able to get to a very proficient level with a couple of weeks of some diligent, and not painful, study. I worked with this book 3 weeks before my Finals and I aced it partly because of this book. It was a great read. The author is the authority on the Mafia and really captured the dynamics that lead to thr surprising ending.

The book keeps you interested from beginning to end! If you see the movie goodfellas, the book follows along the storylines of the movie but in more detail.

It's alright. No big secrets in it. Fairly standard tale.

At last! We finally know what happened to the $$ from the Lufthansa heist! Great story!

Good read

Disappointing. The author clearly didn't do his research as well as he could have. As an example, on page 71 Mr. DeStefano states "a memorable scene in Goodfellas showed the mobster cooking Italian dinners, with Dio using a razor blade to thinly slice garlic for the sauce." Now anyone who saw the movie could quote Henry Hill as saying "Paulie had a system where he would slice the garlic so thing it would dissolve in the pan. Not to be too picky but if the author missed something that readily noticeable, it makes one wonder where else his facts are unreliable.
