I had listened to this audiobook again and again a phone down load and wanted another format for home listening. The Q&A format with Ken and Tammy made the concepts and new ideas come alive for me, and I have integrated many of them into my yoga practice and world views. Hours of exciting intellectual and practical information to savor over and over again.

Nothing new here. In fact it does not even talk about the future of spirituality. Just the last disc talks a bit about the future. yes, the interview was interesting but there's nothing new or informative about it. This was a waste of money and for the price a huge disappointment.

I have been on a long-term spiritual study that has included many of Ken's other works. These days my study is primarily focused on Christianity, with a deep respect for all of the great religious traditions. I have a lot of Christian friends who I respect, but I just do not resonate with their perspectives. I listened to this and "duh!" now I know why. I always had a sense that it was developmental, but this really pins it down for me. Although, I must admit that with at least a foundation understanding of Ken's work, this recording could be difficult to understand. You might first what to start with an overview of AQAL, Spiral Dynamics, stages and states; just Google each term and "Ken Wilber". It likely will keep your head from blowing up.Tami Simon interviews Ken with perfect balance of both clarifying and challenging questions. In fact many times, I would be listening and have a question come to mind and wouldn't you know it, Tami would ask it! I would love to have the text of this interview. It would be nice to study both together. I have made giant strides in my understanding of my place in the range of spiritual perspectives. Thank you Ken Wilber!

I am a huge fan of books/lectures on CD and have listened to my share of the world's "teachers". I am sad to say that this one really, really left me with a cerebral hangover. Perhaps this author would like to integrate a "feeling" side into his prose and presentation as I found him quite dry emotionally and draining intellectually as he circles around himself and his theories in a manner I have yet to experience. It would appear that while this author may very well have a firm intellectual grasp on the content, he lacks depth of emotion and an ability to relate as if he is talking about something he has yet to experience himself and is simply reciting other's work. I found the lecture to be very one dimensional and devoid of what is necessary to get this listener to connect with him and therefore what may very well be excellent theory. Theory is only as affective as the presenter's ability to transmit it which requires intelligence, emotion, and a sense of Being, two of which I found lacking in this CD set. I would not recommend this lecturer. I would rather recommend Caroline Myss, Gangaji, or Papaji as excellent lecturers on the subject of integration of spirit and matter.

This is an incredible CD set; Ken has the medicine our culture needs and sounds like one of the only sane people in the world, honestly.The person who gave this a one star review is just an idiot. Ignore them. (By the way, the reviewer only has two reviews, both of which are one-star reviews for Ken Wilber products. Pfffffft whatever)

Tom has done it again!! His writing style is interesting and engaging. The book is packed with information and tips and projects that make you just want to get started weaving rag rugs NOW! The photos are beautiful and inspiring, and illustrate what simply changing warp color will do. I especially liked that he included photos of his fabric swatches in addition to the photos of the completed rugs made with that fabric. That was very helpful. He also talked about how to (almost) figure how how much fabric you need, depending on the fabric. I would highly recommend this book to any weaver. I would also recommend his CDs: The Loom Owner's Companion; and Weave a Good Rug. His teaching style in the CDs is just as good as in his book. Great job Tom!

This book has everything.Great, clear photos, wonderful color and appealing designs.The drafts are large and readable. The fullpage photos of each rug illustrate the structures very well.A beginning how-to section has excellent photos of all pertinent techniques.This book will make you want to weave rag rugs and enjoy the process.

Tom Knisely has put together a wonderful resource full of TONS of photos- really above and beyond. I love the examples in the book, they do more to inspire your ideas than to help you simply reproduce what’s before you. A must have for anyone interested in weaving rugs, seasoned weavers or beginners. A beautiful volume to add to your textile arts resources.

This is a very simple and easy book for beginners and advanced weavers alike. Its got great recipes and photos for and of projects. It makes what can seem complicated a little easier. The selection of projects is nice for options and ideas.

This is a great book if you are a new or experienced weaver. I bought this as a novice and wanted to learn to weave rugs. It is a great resource. Even better is his videos. Wonderful. You will love it.There is a page that gives you the amount of different fabrics needed for one size rug. That is very helpful when you are looking at different fabrics.If you buy this book you will not regret it.

I am very familiar with Tom's rug weaving from Handwoven and a DVD on his favorite subject, rugs!I haven't been excited about weaving rag rugs since my first one so many years ago. This book would be an ideal choice for beginners as well as advanced weavers who haven't tried to weave a rag rug. Tom is very good with information and starting tips for getting the job done and the rugs are awesome.

Wonderfully written book on how to weave rugs well. Beautiful projects to inspire with detailed instructions on how to create each one. I couldn’t believe the possibilities with twill and different colors of rags and warp. I will refer to this book often for techniques to use on my rug weaving journey.

It's an excellent book but not quite the one I was in search of. I would like to sell the book to someone else that would enjoy the book fully!

I give Bernie Sanders and his ideas a 5+ but I am going to have to give this book a four and if I was really being truthful a three might be more appropriate but I decided on a four since the information in this book is so valuable. The reason for my less than overwhelming support is not in the information but much of the books information can be found on the internet and little new information or insights are presented. That said, if you are a Bernie Sanders fan, you won't go wrong but I would recommend one of his other books, in particular, "Our Revolution: A Future to Believe In" if you would like to read about Bernie Sanders and his ideas.

This book isn't a guide or lecture on or about starting a political revolution. It's more of an outline on what should be done to start a political revolution, and why these things should be done.What's really great about this book is that it's a quick, and easy read that's an outline of Bernie Sanders ideology on how to fix the most important problems facing the United States today. Senator Sanders gives examples of each problem, and present ways to fix each of them.Because of the way this book is structured, I think its focus is on people who really don't know about what or where Bernie stands on the issues. But, Guide to Political Revolution should also be read by people who know where Bernie Sanders stands on the issues. Because, Guide to Political Revolution gives a quick overview of his agenda.

Bernie gives a play by play breakdown of what needs to be done in our country and why. He offers real time solutions to many problems. Maybe it's a must read before the next election in order to avoid any replay of the last one???

For those afraid of the Sanders revolution because they are terrified his ideas equate to Soviet or Cuban communist socialism, they need to read. Familiarize themselves with a different form of "American" socialism, where free public education just 4 years more than we pay for now, but only for those who educationally can qualify without destroying a future with crushing debt. Read!

This book rehashes a lot of what was already said in Our Revolution: A Future to Believe In. Essentially, it takes what was said in that Our Revolution and makes it more concise (half as many pages) and easier to digest, and contains a bunch of pictures, graphs, and diagrams to break up the space. If you've already read Our Revolution, then you probably won't get much more out of this book. If you haven't, then this book is a good tl;dr version.

It establishes the beliefs of senator Sanders, what he thinks are the problems in the status quo and how he thinks they should be fixed. Socialist views are all over the book, not surprising and they might be viewed as a a bit unrealistic and idealistic to ever be established in real life. Loved it and it really does show you the United States from the senator's perspective.

I am not a young person by any means, but if I were, I believe Senator Sanders book would motivate me to get involved! #BernieSanders at his honest best!

About the Author

Marshall L. Michel III is a native of New Orleans who attended Georgetown and Harvard Universities. He joined the US Air Force in 1966 and from 1970 to 1973 flew 321 combat missions. However, the campaign was far more effective and efficient than its predecessor.As the 1968 general elections approached, President Lyndon B. Johnson ordered the complete halt to the bombing of North Vietnam effective on 1 Nov 1968. Many believed it was a cynical attempt by the President to give his vice president a better chance of winning the 3 way race between Humphrey, Nixon and Wallace. As it turned out, Richard Nixon won the election and inherited the war in Southeast Asia.President Nixon had no stomach for resuming Rolling Thunder in 1969. The bombing had been unpopular with the American public and world opinion was against it. It had not been conducted efficiently nor effectively. DOD had worked hard to correct the deficiencies in the campaign. They stepped up the development and production of a new generation of capable tactical aircraft – the F-4 Phantom II, the A-7 Corsair II and the F-111. Not only did they step up munitions production that ended the bomb shortage in 1967, they began development of a new generation of precision guided munitions that made servicing targets more accurate. And they refined the tactics that integrated ECM, chaff, aerial reconnaissance and radar guided bombing that would have made the Rolling Thunder more effective.All this was in place by early 1968 as the US was gearing up for a stepped up aerial campaign that year that would have really put the hurt on the North Vietnamese. Unfortunately, President Johnson imposed a partial bombing halt on 1 April 1968 that left the northern half of North Vietnam off limits to attack. The campaign reverted from “strategic bombing” to “battlefield interdiction” in the southern half of North Vietnam. This was followed by a full bombing halt imposed on 1 November 1968.US air power then concentrated on interdicting the Ho Chi Minh Trail in Laos and bombing enemy sanctuaries in Cambodia. However, between bombing campaigns, the US military continued to produce capable aircraft that replaced the Century Series aircraft, develop precision munitions and improve tactics and the training of combat pilots.By 1972, as the US was completing its withdrawal of air and ground forces from SEA, the North Vietnamese leadership decided to launch the offensive they hoped would topple the South Vietnamese Government. Arrogantly believing the US would not resume the bombing of the North, the Communists moved their forces into southern North Vietnam to conduct the ground offensive that became known as the Easter Offensive. Launched on Good Friday 1972, by May the offensive had developed into five separate but coordinated attacks throughout the country that were designed to draw away, scatter or pin down South Vietnam's military reserves.President Nixon was furious that the North would make such an audacious attack and immediately ordered a limited resumption of attacks against North Vietnam's infrastructure. The renewed bombing began in April & was initially called Operation Freedom Train. However, when the North showed no intention of halting their offensive operations, President Nixon ordered a sustained aerial campaign called Operation Linebacker that began on 10 May 1972.Linebacker became an air-sea campaign that US military leaders could only dream of conducting during the earlier Rolling Thunder Campaign. The rules of engagement were relaxed and targets that were previously off limits became fair game. With an array of USAF, USN and USMC air units hastily deployed from around the world equipped with the newer and more capable aircraft and a new generation of air munitions. Unlike in 1965, the pilots who waged the Linebacker were battle tested from previous combat tours and were better trained. The renewed campaign punished the North like it had never been before. For the first time B52s were sent to strike targets deep inside North Vietnam and the US Navy mined all of the main ports. The campaign was so aggressive that a US Naval task force even entered Haiphong Harbor to destroy vital port facilities.The aerial campaign caught North Vietnam’s leadership off guard and they scrambled to counter the aerial assault. However, unlike during Rolling Thunder, neither the Soviets nor the Chinese Communists were willing to intervene to provide newer weapons and other military support. Wishing to continue improving relations with the US, the Chinese declined to send troops as they did in 1966. It just so happen the Soviets were going to summit with President Nixon that same month. Not willing to risk the summit, the Soviet leadership mildly chastised the President over the bombings, and then got down to super power business. The North’s munitions and supplies ran short and by September the Easter Offensive was decisively defeated with the North suffering over 100,000 casualties and very heavy equipment losses. The North’s leadership began to negotiate in earnest for a cease fire and by late October, a cease fire was imminent and Linebacker I began to wind down.It appeared that Linebacker was successful in pushing North Vietnam’s leadership to the negotiating table. However, it took Linebacker II to force a final agreement and by January 1973, a cease fire was agreed to and Linebacker ended. In the end, the North accomplished their goal of seizing key territory and enhancing their ability to negotiate an agreement in Paris that allowed themselves to finish off South Vietnam three years later in 1975. They quickly exploited their territorial gains to position themselves for that final offensive. The US merely bought time for the South Vietnamese.This volume gives one of the most detailed descriptions of the tactics the USAF and US Navy used during Linebacker. Armed with laser and TV guided munitions, the missions changed from a squadron and wing sized strikes of 16-48 aircraft during Rolling Thunder, to a only flight or two of 4-8 aircraft during Linebacker. The author discusses the effective use of chaff, smart munitions, aerial mines, radar guided intercepts of MIGs (Red Crown), electronic jamming and effective IFF (Combat Tree). Most of these were available during Rolling Thunder, but had been much improved or used more effectively during Linebacker.The one glaring failure that is seldom ever discussed was the inability of the Air Force to deal with the MIG threat. While the US finally had aircrews attain ace status in 1972, this covered up the inadequacies of our pilots in air-to-air combat. The North Vietnamese employed effective tactics, their pilots were better trained and their use of GCI gave them an edge over the Air Force’s pilots. Only the Navy did better against the MIGs due to their effective Top Gun program that gave emphasis on air-to-air combat training. But at the end, the ratio of MIG kills to US losses was embarrassing, especially after the successes of the Korean War, and sent the US military back to the basics of training for air-to-air combat.I have only two criticisms of this book. The book barely mentions, but does not detail the contributions of the surface units of the US 7th Fleet. They performed critical missions in support of Linebacker that included naval gunfire on high risk targets, serving as platforms for SAR helicopters, providing cover against the MIGS with their TALOS & TERRIER missiles and providing valuable GCI against the MIGs. During Freedom Train, ships of the 7th Fleet came under air attack – the first and only US military units to be attacked by enemy air since the Korean War – and successfully defended themselves with the first ever combat use of computer guided ship-to-air missiles. My other criticism is that the author devotes too many pages to the Easter Offensive and air operations in support of ground operations in the South. This would have been better covered in a separate volume and maybe Osprey should publish another volume covering air power and the Easter Offensive.Osprey now completes this excellent trilogy of books on the air war over the North. I highly recommend this book to the air war historian, the Vietnam buff and the professional who may have to plan and execute a similar air campaigns in the future. The lessons learned during Linebacker were applied a generation later during Desert Storm with great success. Those lessons are still relevant.

Author Marshall Michel offers another hardnosed assessment of a U.S. air campaign in this Osprey Series book on 1972's Operation Linebacker I against a North Vietnamese invasion of South Vietnam. With most U.S. ground combat forces having already departed, the U.S. responded with a massive air campaign. A variety of Air Force and Navy air assets attacked North Vietnamese forces in South Vietnam. They also went after critical infrastructure in North Vietnam.The author gets a lot of information and analysis into less than 100 pages. A point of emphasis in the narrative is the application of high-tech measures for protecting U.S. aircraft and improving strike results. Another is the effect on training, or the lack of it, on results and casualties. The U.S. and its North Vietnamese opponents both experienced the deadly learning curve of combat. The narrative is nicely supported by a terrific collection of period photographs, maps, and battle diagrams, and some hard-hitting conclusions. Very highly recommended to students of the conflict.

Excellent time line of events and tactics. There is one photo on page 47 that has the people misidentified. Charlie Carr is the man on the left looking at the camera and Roger Sheets is the man on the right. "Blinky" seems to be somebody who really knew how to lead. Very well done book.

Aside from B-52 and tactical operations, he describes the growing importance of precision-guided munitions, as PGMs featured prominently in Operation Desert Storm 19 years later.The one aspect missing from Linebacker I is the ultimate fate of the Thanh Hoa Bridge, the most notorious target in Southeast Asia. Michel properly describes the Air Force mission in May 1972 that rendered most of the “Dragon’s Jaw” inoperative, but omits the last act when USS America A-7s dropped the bridge in October.With nearly 70 black and white and color photos, Linebacker I is well illustrated, also containing numerous color maps and tactical diagrams that are easily comprehended. High marks to Osprey’s production team for maintaining the publisher’s reputation for quality.Michel’s two Linebacker volumes may be considered part of a trilogy with his Osprey title pitting B-52s against SA-2 surface to air missiles.

We borrowed a bunch of Manga Classics from the library and The Scarlet Letter and Les Mis were my Grade 2 daughter's favorites. I read the books with them to discuss the faith and character issues. Included in the back are the artist and the writer's explanation on how they break down the novel into a manga format and translated the original ideas into drawings. What I love from these Manga Classics is that they didn't rewrite the content but pulled actual passages from the original text and added minor changes to make the storyline flow.

A good retelling of the highlights from the Scarlet Letter. The art provides a good visual for a kid to reflect on after having read the story. The art for Wilson is very telling as well; he looks like the lout I always saw him as.

An American classic makes an excellent manga!

I loved it! Though to be fair I haven't read the original book

I read the original Scarlet Letter years ago. It's a good book, but not my favorite "classic." While looking for books to include in my high school American history curriculum (google Guest Hollow), I decided to go with this version instead of the original. The Scarlet Letter is a difficult read... and for students with an already heavy reading load, it could frankly be a chore to slog through due to the writing style and antiquated language (imo).I LOVE this manga adaptation. The artwork is so expressive, and the symbolism of the book was carefully captured in the drawings. Of course some threads from the story had to be removed (or condensed), but the main details of the story were faithfully reproduced, and a lot of care went into creating something true to the original (as much as you can in a 300+ page manga comic). I also appreciate the author's notes that explain some of the metaphors and other details.This is the perfect book not only for a reluctant reader, but also for an adult who wants a quick education in the classics without the time or interest to read the original(s). It also would make a good accompaniment to any original classic to help a teen better understand an original work (perhaps read one of the books in this series first, and then read the original). I devoured this book in one sitting and thoroughly enjoyed it. I will be looking for the rest of the books in this series!

This is definitely a five star book for me, because of the wonderful craftsmanship that went into the drawings and the scrupulous attention to detail needed to adapt this novel into a manga.I'm less of a fan of the story itself, because of all the emphasis on "morality" and religion that permeate it. There's a lot of hypocrisy and harshness in the Puritan community in the book, with little to no Christian, or indeed any other, kindness towards one's fellow man. The townspeople are evil, hiding behind piousness, and this is illustrated in the drawings by the black shadow-like masks that fall on their faces, and that of Hester's estranged husband.Hester Prynne is kind, brave and strong, a wonderful heroine. She takes responsibility for her mistakes and is steadfastly loyal to her partner in sin, whose name she refuses to give up.The minister, on the other hand, is a coward and a weakling. He does nothing to help his child or the woman he had an affair with.Hester's husband is at times drawn almost like the devil himself, face half in shadows and hair blowing wild behind him. He is also often depicted with a big scary snake. A biblical reference maybe to the snake that enticed Eve, and through Eve, Adam into sin.The letter A, symbolizing first Hester's sin and later her penitence & kindness, is always colored in red, even though the rest of the illustrations are in black&white. We are never allowed to forget that it is there, nor is she.Pearl is a strange child, in part due to her unusual and isolated upbringing. This is very well reflected in the way she is drawn and the scenes she is depicted in. A beautiful example is when she lurks behind the trees, with the sunbeams shining through the forest, instead of running towards her mother and the minister even though her mother repeatedly calls out to her.

I purchased this to study for the exam and have found it contains very good information. However, I consider this type of book an investment to not only use as a study guide but future reference. It's frustrating to learn it will be outdated 3 months after I bought it. Of course much of the information will be unchanged, it's still very helpful to study, but now it's outdated. I purchased Kindle edition and am enjoying the advantages of this, BUT, info listed in tables or charts are not at all easy to read. They don't line up well, are choppy, and require you to tab up, down and sideways. The column headings do not flow with content below. I've decided to look in other resources for learning table contents for now, but probably will not purchase Kindle editions in future if all are this way. This is the first I've used Kindle to study, in fact I would appreciate feedback regarding this. Despite my two issues with this purchase, the actual content written is easy to read, yet great, useful content.

I purchased this book for review to take my CAPA exam. I have taken the exam before but let it expire. I have worked PACU before but mostly Preop, Phase 2 now. Honestly, I felt the book was a little over the top. Too detailed about every little system. Like who wants to go over the Krebs cycle again ugh! I had to skim over many parts to try to extract the important stuff. The test is multiple choice and usually asks questions so that you can use your nursing process in regards to pt care. I am not a Critical Care Nurse maybe thats why I found it laborias. However,If I were taking CPAN then maybe it would be more beneficial. I wouldn't recommend this book honestly. I wish someone would just come out with a book that says "CAPA STUDY GUIDE" to take the guess work out. Thanks.

There is a newer edition to this. A good resource for those who want information about caring for patients in the Recovery Room.

i work in PACU and this book has been indispensable. the fact that its an ebook makes it even better because i can search for key works all the relevant material will pop up instead of looking up in the index in a traditional paper book. it covers a little bit of everything including a brief overview of all body systems and then goes into the specifics of anesthesia and recovery.

As a PACU nurse, this book is so helpful thus far!

A big source of help for my CPAN exam. Read this book cover to cover and surely, will never fail

It is more of a reference book to me. I bought it to study for my CPAN certification. I did not end up using it for that, instead I have it as a reference book. Too much to read when studying for your certification.
