I love the PBS Baking Show that Paul Hollywood judges. Many of the technical dishes that are part of the show are from his recipes. I had great hopes for his book but was disappointed. The dishes are just not that tasty for the effort. Hate to say it but the recipes are just too bland - not enough taste. Recipes are not very difficult but I ended up tweaking the flavors.

I love to bake, especially bread. I love cookbooks, I'm a British expat and I enjoy picking up regional recipes. So okay I have quite a few of these already, but Paul Hollywood has updated some beautifully. Plus I have been trying for 22 years to remember the name of these huge bread rolls I had when I stayed in Leeds for a few weeks and how to make them if I did ever find out their name. Problem solved thanks to this book. Barm cakes. They were 2" thick and came in different sizes from bread and butter plate to dinner plate size and were yummy! I digress. The book is very well written with the facts about the origins of the items, some personal asides and a lot of good photography. A very good book easy to follow for all levels of baking talents I would say.

Both of his books are wonderful. I found over 80 recipes that I wanted to try out. The recipes are clear and easy to follow. You do need a scale: Caveat: plain flour means low protein cake flour...corn flour means corn starch & you'll need a scale with grams -- but the breads are fabulous & come out well every time! The cookies are interesting because many of them do not use eggs which gives them a decidedly light texture. This is the first baking book that I created a list for what I wanted to make and started baking my way through the book. Get the book & and start baking. Yummy!

This is an excellent book for bakers of all skill levels (I'm at a medium-low skill level, personally). The organization of recipes by region, along with the table of contents organizing the recipes by overall category, makes it easy to find what you're looking for. Each recipe is accompanied by a photo, and many recipes also have sequential photos of Paul Hollywood working through stages of the recipe, which is very helpful and helps to demystify the process. It gives the reader the encouraging feeling that the author actually WANTS you to learn how to do this, rather than just a presenting you with a list of instructions.If you're in the United States, which I am, you may have to take a moment before getting started to convert some of the measurements to more common US measurements to make things easier as you work (i.e. milliliters to cups, centimeters to inches). There are also some ingredients in a few of the recipes (especially regional ingredients) that are less common or unavailable in mainstream American grocery stores, but it's easy enough to either think of a substitute or move on to another recipe.Taste-wise, everything I've made has been delicious. Cornish fairings (which are especially easy and quick to make) have become well-loved in our household.

I married a Brit. I didn't think the British had a cuisine. But I was wrong. This book is great fun, the recipes work well and it is clearly written. Often a celebrity chef will lend a name to a recipe book and the recipes just don't work. Everything I have made from this book has worked, almost perfectly. I'll be buying more of this man's books.

Excellent cookbook. Very detailed descriptions of what to do and why. Unlike some authors, his advice is spot-on - if you do exactly what he says, you will get good results. He clearly is a cook rather than someone who has put his name on a cookbook. His measurements are in metric units which provide a far more accurate way of adding ingredients than the imprecise cup and volume method. Highly recommended.

If you watch PBS for The Great British Baking Show, you'll be familiar with Paul Hollywood.This is a collection of traditional British dessert and bread recipes, organized by geographical region, that Hollywood has update for modern tastes.The recipes are clearly written, includes brief anecdotes, and some instruction. Plenty of color photographs.I purchased this as a gift.

The book is full of small baked goods with strange names, so I will pick one recipe every day, make it and when it goes in the oven I will put the kettle on. It promises to be an glorious fall season with Paul Holland and regional british baked goods.You don't need much equipment, a bowl, your hands, a pastry cutter and a tin. Happy baking.

Christine King Farris is the sister of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the only surviving member of the King family. She is the author of the children's book My Brother Martin and has been on the faculty of Spelman College since 1958. She lives with her husband in Atlanta.Chris Soentpiet (pronounced: soon-peet) is a recipient of a gold medal from the Society of Illustrators; has received accolades from the International Reading Association, Parents magazine, the American Library Association, the School Library Journal, the Chicago Tribune, the San Francisco Chronicle, and the Smithsonian; and has been recognized by the American Society of Portrait Artists Foundation. I can't recommend this book enough. The illustrations are absolutely beautiful, and it is a beautifully-written book as well!

I bought this book to give to my 9 year old grandson for Christmas. It came yesterday and I was curious to see if I could learn anything I didn't already know about Martin Luther King. It was very interesting and written to encourage children to live and work to achieve their dreams. Such an enjoyable and easy read. Very well written.

Good but words

This book is a personal account by Dr. King's sister about growing up with the future trailblazer. It is an easy read aloud, and informative. Good primary source and a great starting place for some good prewriting activities, as well as more detailed writing activities. Nice book.

It is a well written, although very concise, review of Manet and his artistic goals. Manet struggled with lighting and the depth of the picture plane, which is covered well in this book. The paintings that were important to Manet and to the artistic world of the day are shown in color with explanations that improve the reader's understanding of what is going on inside the frame.

Yet again a beautiful and comprehensive volume from Delphi; what a generous company Delphi to provide us with these gorgeous studies. Awesome, indeed.

I bought this for my Art History Research and surprisingly it doesn't help me much -_- so I changed my topic.

I call this book magic healing. At first i didnt want to read it. But after i did it i realized it gave me a clear understanding of my trauama. And not a negetive outlook anymore. Any bothersome thought i am "stuck" on i use this technique. And i have a different relaity on it. I didnt follow word for word but it using the main idea and i love it!! Ive been through alot. So much! And i needed relief. This book is helping me with the help ive been searching for. The past trauma and its effects.

"Tapping In" by Laurel Parnell is a great self-help book for properly processing difficult memories, stressful situations or for genuinely letting go of lingering emotional residues that are preventing the past from being THE PAST rather than a continuing parallel aspect of your present. Great explanation for why this technique is effective and how to do it with the best possible results in mind. She's very thorough. The basics of bi-lateral stimulation using physical touch rather than the EMDR techniques with which she is also fluently versed.Good job!

I've had this book for several years but, have not really used it. Recently, I tried using simple tapping to help myself let go of some bothersome emotions and memories that I'd been carrying around for awhile. Although not traumatic, they were bothersome, and I didn't like the way they kept popping up in my memory. I decided to try the tapping technique in this book while saying out loud what was bothering me. To my surprise, most of the memories disappeared and I actually laughed about some new imagery which replaced it. I have tried this method a few times lately with clients and found it to be effective so I will continue to use it both for myself and for clients. It is easy to learn and use and you may have great results, both for helping yourself let go of upsetting emotions and memories but to strengthen good or pleasant images and emotions. And, even better, you may not need a therapist to help! However, if you find this process upsetting and hard to manage, or you have a history of trauma, please seek out a therapist with experience in EMDR

Excellent book. I am using it as an adjunct to EMDR. I tend to have issues with "self-help" books because the writing tends to be all over the place with tons of space-filling stories, and the real substance of them could probably be a few pages. I love Parnell's writing style, and the book is very well organized. It is not dumbed down or patronizing. I found it helpful to read it front to back, but it also functions much like an encyclopedia. Just use the appendix to find a section or two about how to help yourself using tapping depending on the particular problem or need you might be having.I was also interested to learn how many ways you can use bilateral stimulation through tapping, including more discreet methods when out in public.. Many of Parnell's ideas I would not have thought of myself, even understanding how resourcing works. It has definitely helped with my anxiety in specific situations, as well as issues with motivation and procrastination. The strategies that Parnell teaches help a lot if you keep at it ... And USE them regularly.I do wish the book had addressed my most deep-seated bad habit: getting out of bed in the morning and not hitting the snooze button! I wish there were a section the dealt with habits in general, but after reading the book and understanding the general flow of tapping in resources, I feel equipped to be creative and tailor these methods to fit my own needs. That said, she covers and awful lot. She thought of an awful lot. I hope to see more self development books such as this by Parnell in the future!

After having read the whole book. I think that the author wrote it with very goodwill. Albeit, I think the idea could be conveyed enough well in a lot less pages. The tapping in step by step sequence is repeated few dozens of times unecesarily. I would like as well it have had more information about the specific points or zones of the body to tapping in in accordance with the organ, condition or symptoms that are being treated. The book is somehow costly for the content but provides an acceptable introduction to the topic.

I highly recommend tapping in for building inner resources for work with your trauma clients. The audio CD's are narrated by the author, and would be helpful for clients to listen to as well. Together with the theratapper, it creates a more felt sense of peace and containment for those trying to build a window of tolerance in recovery from trauma... highly recommended!
