(Imagine my surprise and delight when the passenger next to me took the book to read when I dozed off on my flight. I've known Rod Pyle for while now, and I knew he was a good writer, I didn't know he was such a comprehensive researcher. I have skimmed through this book for a quick read to provide a review. Based on my first pass, I can state without a doubt that this book is amazing, it is easy to read, provides some fantastic artwork, and historical photography too. What I like the most about this book are the factoids based on interviews from professionals and business owners in the aerospace industry and research details about the myriad of various areas which took me on a ride from private spaceflight, through NASA (some of which I was already familiar) and the new entrepreneurial disrupters of the present and a view into what the future of spaceflight might see. What was also insightful was the historical significance and context which gave me a complete picture. Now that I've skimmed through I'm ready for a slow read to take it all in with hot tea and relax and fully absorb all the deep work Rod Pyle put into Space 2.0. What is really wonderful is how well written this book is, which is refreshing. Don't miss this book as it is great to read but it also is a great desktop reference for spaceflight. If you have teens that are interested in aerospace this is a fantastic book for an overall deep dive into spaceflight, many questions can be answered by reading this book and some that have never been asked.

I'm a resident in internal medicine, and in my line of work ekgs play a major role. I really need to know how to read and interpret ekgs. I read multiple resources including online articles but didn't find such an amazing book as this. This book is easy to read, easy to understand with its simplistic ways and diagrams. It'll make you want to learn ekgs. I advise this book to anyone wanting to learn ekgs regardless of which stage your at, it's good for medical students, doctors, and nurses.Highly rate it.

I'm a medical student. My instructors recommended we order Dubin's EKG book. It is good, but this book is better. It contains more information, has clearer explanations, and is all around better. You will not get more information unless you get an electrophysiology textbook. I would strongly recommend this book.

I was a fourth year medical student at the time I read this book. It is fantastic. The first chapter sets you up with everything you need to know and the remainder of the book keeps coming back to those few basic concepts that makes it easy to understand in a way that forces you to grasp the electrophysiological events taking place in an EKG rather than just memorizing patterns and shapes. It is a quick read and will help a ton on clinical rotations or just to freshen up your EKG skills

This book rocks so much. It understands that you're tired and hungry and your cardiology exam is tomorrow and you really don't want to read five unnecessary pages on the varying presentations of Wolff-Parkinson-White trying to figure out how to ID it.

Love this book. A lot of people like Dubin's, but that book just wasn't for me. This is the only EKG book that actually helped me. I say that if Dubin's or one of the other famous or popular ones is not for you try this one. I felt it explained a lot of the 'why' to things.

Used it in medical school. Best book to learn ekg for cardio and the wards. Easy enough for a non medical or allied health student to purchase and learn ekg. I have heard it isn't sufficient for a cardiology or other specialty residency as it doesn't dive in incredibly deep to certain rare readouts, butt for clinical rotations and below this is the #1 source for learning ekg.

First year med student here. Doing extremely well on cardio section. This book is clear and to the point, which is great especially when you have other things to do. English is my third language and I was able to finish this book in less than a week, reading 2-3 chapters a day. I expect I'll quickly read this again to prepare for Step 1 and then again before intern year. Highly recommended.

This is a great book for anyone who just wants a refresher, or for someone who is starting with EKGs from scratch. Great info, easy to read and understand and the chapters are well organized.

Even though I am not Jewish (but still a New Yorker who grew up in the years following World War II) I was hesitant to read the book even though Felice Stevens is one of my favorites. But I decided to plunge ahead.And I could not put it down.There are other coincidences in this book which involve Coby, a 30-year-old openly gay personal dresser at Barney's New York, and Eli, a 30-year-old hunk of a closeted security officer at the Brooklyn courthouse (he's on the cover, woof!) Other than the one disclosed in the blurb, the others are just giggles in a sweetly developed plot that brings together best friends of the MCs as well as their wildly divergent old-line New York Jewish families.What else would you expect in a book by Ms. Stevens featuring two NJB (Nice Jewish Boys)?This one has cross currents of angst in many situations but Stevens' brilliant use of words to get from point-to-point without cluttering the situation up with too much eye rolling introspection makes this one move along quickly and lovingly.This one is perfect, just perfect. Thank you Ms. Stevens!

This was a fantastic read! First time gay is one of my favorite tropes so I knew this was going to be a must read for me. Coby and Eli’s story really hit all the high notes I look for in a book - romance, sexy times, a touch of humor and all the feels. I loved Eli’s shyness as he found himself and who he wanted to be. Coby’s romantic heart made me all warm and fuzzy. It was their intertwined history that really drew me into their story, I felt a definite emotional connection. Their story really resounded with me. This is one my favorite authors because she can always draw me into her stories and the worlds she creates. Eli and Coby’s story was no exception. I couldn’t recommend this book more!

This is an incredibly polished story with two leads who are easy to love. This is a must read.

There’s something comforting about reading a Felice Stevens book. Sure, she guarantees a Happily Ever After (it’s emblazoned all over her website), but it goes beyond that. Reading one of her books is almost like coming home. This one feels exactly like that.I absolutely love that this story is told in the First Person. From an artistic perspective, using that format gives the author the ability to really dig into the character, to allow you to feel what the character is feeling, and to think what the character is thinking.Coby reminded me of someone’s little brother that you wanted to protect. He’s kind of gun shy about relationships since his last one ended disastrously. His support system, in the form of his mother, great-aunt, and best friend, is amazing. His best friend, Addie, convinces him to create a profile on an online dating site, which leads to some even more disastrous first dates. (Believe me, Coby, I wouldn’t date a klepto either). Addie takes control and sets up a date with……Eli, who created a profile on the site in order to try and find some sort of connection with a guy since bars make him uncomfortable. I pictured this guy as the strong, buff, somewhat silent type. Hard exterior with a gooey center. He’s a court officer literally just coming to terms with who he is. His father has no problem reminding him how much of a disappointment he has always been. I hated his father, and his mother seemed ineffectual in helping her own children. His parents provide a perfect contrast to Coby’s family. But, just as Coby has Addie, Eli has his brother Darren and best friend Mario. The supporting characters are just as fleshed out as the MC’s, not just plot devices. They have their own stories, and the book is all the better for it.Coincidences play a huge role in this, from the fact that Coby and Eli live on the same floor of the same building, to…other things in their family histories. I won’t give it away here, but it’s pretty obvious when you see it. I prefer not to see them as coincidences, however, but rather fate or destiny. I bought this book in 2006 but I felt I owed it a review since it got me started on a lucrative career in trading commodities and since I totally panned Rogers later book “A Bull in China.” In Hot commodities Rogers gives a general overview of why we were in a commodities bull market (in 2004). Roger’s theory is more qualitative than quantitative but it is logical, well presented, and understandable. Rogers discusses commodities market cycles and the underlying causes for these cycles. While the longer term commodities bull market is now in question the book is still useful to help make judgments today on underlying fundamentals. Commodities are not a popular asset class compared to stocks and bonds yet easier to understand. To me that makes commodities investing far more interesting. Better to trade where is there is less competition. I am amazed that Rogers can produce two opposed books like “Hot Commodities” and “A Bull in China.” Hot Commodities challenges the conventional wisdom on investing while a “Bull in China”, quite the opposite, goes right along with the conventional wisdom.

"In commodities trading knowledge is the gateway to making money" says Jim Rogers. "My goal is to show you how to think about commodities before you put any money on the table." This book is full of basic information on the world of "things" as Roger's refers to commodities, plus numerous examples, verifiable facts and entertaining anecdotes.It is not, however, a complete guide to commodity speculation. There are already a number of good books on that subject (see Jack Schwager's books among others). Hot Commodities is an introduction to the world of commodity speculation from the viewpoint of one who has made a fortune in it over the past four decades.Very few investors pay attention to the commodities world. Rogers claims that any of us, whether or not we take a position in a commodity, can improve our edge as an investor by learning more about how commodities are affected by supply and demand and how they in turn affect company profits, national economies and consumer behavior.The first four chapters of Hot Commodities introduce the reader to commodities as an asset class distinct from stocks, bonds and real estate. Rogers covers the typical objections to commodity investing put forth by stock brokers and financial advisors, describes the history and operation of commodity futures markets and describes alternative means to enter the market through futures, options, ETFs and equities.Chapter 5 looks at China and explains how it will drive the commodities boom for decades. His assessment also addresses the downside risks to Chinese capitalism and warns about the severe pullbacks (50%+) common in major bull markets and how to handle them (use low or no leverage; buy dips) so you can stick with the long-term trend. He concludes that China will overcome its challenges and wise investors would do well to get aboard.The last five chapters examine five markets: oil, gold, lead, sugar and coffee. Each exemplifies how a master investor researches, analyzes and evaluates a particular commodity in order to gain deep understanding of market fundamentals. A concluding chapter sums it all up.What I value most is insight into the mind of Jim Rogers the investor which he so generously shares with us readers. Rarely do those of us outside Wall Street get the opportunity to view the thought process and work product of a true market wizard. Whether or not you plan to or already do invest in commodities, and whether or not you agree with Rogers' opinions, it is difficult to argue with his mastery of commodity investing.I rate the book three stars. Why only three? It is not essential reading for a trader (-1) and significant portions of the content (but not the core value) are now out of date (-1). I first read it in June 2005 and just re-read it to see how his predictions fared. In a word: astounding! I suspect that you will feel the same way if you choose to read the book.

I would have easily given this phenomenal book a perfect 5/5 rating, except for one critique. Jim rogers does an outstanding job giving a opinion in a good read and does make alot of sense. I myself invest in commodities and stocks. And because this book was written 6 years ago it still has useful advice for a macro scale of investing. Now for the down side, the author disregards the fact that oil and commodities rose because of inflation, not just supply shortages. Supply and demand does infact dictate prices, but he talks so much of the 1970s without mentioning that America and many other countries went off the gold standard in August of 1971. The prices of everything due to the money printing in the 70's and free floating exchange rates contributed to a large part of the spike in commodities, which it should. It would have been easier for him to dedicate a short chapter to include that important reason for massive price spikes. Otherwise, enjoy.

Jim Rogers is a smart guy and a good writer, but this book is outdated. Commodities are very tricky, very difficult to play unless you have an open mind and get the right information, which, surprisingly enough, is very hard to obtain. Not a total waste of your time, however. There are "cycles" in commodities. However I suspect that both because of monetary policy and weather changes they are more difficult to predict than in the past.

This is one of three books we used on our trip in November of 1998. The best part of this book is the detailed reviews of all of the eating establishments. There are a ton of restaurant reviews, and they are very detailed. We found the recommendations to be pretty accurate. The do it yourself tours and adventures are not as detailed in this book as in the Lonely Planet book. We also found some useful stuff in the moon book that was in neither of these. If you're more of an adventurous type, I would recommend getting the Lonely Planet book as well. The combination of two or three of these books would make the perfect guide. You can read all about our trip and how we used these two books in my travel report on DiveAtlas.com. I Moon and Lonely Planet books came out with new editions after we returned.
