From School Library Journal
Gr 3–6—Readers met 13-year-old abandoned foster kid-turned-monster slayer Jack Sullivan and his adolescent makeshift army in The Last Kids on Earth. In this excellent sequel, the zombies are mysteriously disappearing. As the zombies walk in droves toward a shrieking sound, their brains are being sucked out of their skulls. While no fan of the undead, Jack and his squad set out to solve the mystery. New alliances are formed and trusts are broken, culminating in an all-out monster brawl to save their world. The continuation of this hybrid series capitalizes on gross-out fun. The realistic writing style keeps the narrative moving at a fast pace, while the frenzied pencil artwork supports its humorous tone. But what distinguishes this adventure is the character development. The members work through their fears of loss, abandonment, and loneliness to unite as a family. The language is sophisticated, geared toward readers who enjoy rousing adventures. The open ended conclusion allows for the possibility of more exciting exploits. A gallery highlighting various nefarious creatures is an added treat. VERDICT For fans of the first book, this sequel does not disappoint. This series is a must-have for middle grade collections.—Sada Mozer, Los Angeles Public Library

Received the book yesterday. My son ran to the mailbox to get it. We read two chapters last night and he was loving it. I had to literally pull the book out of his hand and tell him to go to bed! I never thought I'd have to rip a book out of my sons hands - so THANK YOU for writing a great story. We also read the first book, Last Kids on Earth, twice!
This was purchased for my grandson who loved the first book and asked him if I would get him this one. He was so excited the other day when it came. He's 10, in the 4th grade, and apparently quite a few of the kids in his class enjoy this author also, so it appears to be a good book for this age group.
Another excellent engaging book for my young reader. We've been working hard to get him to read something other than Legos, DC & Marvel comics. This series did the trick! When the book arrived he was jumping with excitement telling me about all of the characters and their adventure from the first book. You know it's a good read when you child decides to read instead of playing video games! We are awaiting the next book, my son suggested that the characters find a new kid and help that new kid save someone in his family. Needless to say, my son highly recommends this book to kids his age. Happy reading!
I saw the prequel to this book posted on facebook and immediately ordered it for my son who loves to read. He is obsessed with DoaWK so I knew since the writer of that book commented on TLKoE, he would love this as well. Anyway, once I commented on the post the author sent me a message and said he'd like to send my son a signed sticker for each book. Such perfect timing since my little one was just about to turn 9 and these were part of his birthday presents! My son read the first book in TWO DAYS! He absolutely loved it! I was trying to hold on to the 2nd book but once the signed stickers arrived, I couldn't pass up the chance to surprise my son with not only the book, but the stickers as well! I've attached some photos here for you to see just how much my son loved the book. The first photo is him receiving the sequel and the next couple of photos are of him realizing he now has autographed stickers for each book! Max Brallier has written a great series and has fabulous communication with his fan base! we are definitely looking forward to the future books in this series coming out!
Hi I am Layney, I am 9 years old and a girl. This book is good, because there is a lot of action, there is a wormungolous and uhm it was in the mall and crashed and it like ran over all the kids and then this monster man came and helped them and then at the end..... never mind, no spoilers about the ancient destroyer of worlds. This book made me feel awesome.
This series just keeps getting better. While the first book was a little funnier this one was more interesting and the characters are being developed very nicely. I also like the way the monsters aren't all bad. I am excited to get my elementary students going on this series.
It's hard to find something that your 14-year old will read. He stayed up half the night reading this and asked for the sequel within 2 days. It's not often that he gets into something so I consider this a real win!
My son was so excited to see this book for his birthday present. He absolutely loves this author and the series is great for 10 year old boys for sure. I'm going to read it next though.....
