The real review should follow my trip so I could comment on how much the book helped, but that is at least several months away. So far, I like the layout of the book and the guidelines and resources it provides. The maps are great, and it is easy to scan to the end description of each site to see recommendations for lodging, meals, and public transport . One nit-pick so far: I plan to make hiking a big part of the trip, and the guide says I can get a map of the "Mullerthal" trail from a tourist office in Luxembourg . I have found this to be impractical . The tourist office will only accept a bank transfer of funds and that transaction costs $25 at my bank-- while the map cost is about 4 Euros, so I'll just pick it up in Luxembourg, while I would prefer to have it in hand prior to departure. I'm getting similar responses from other tourist offices when specific maps are requested. This is a nit-pick and I know I am probably old fashioned to want to assemble detailed paper maps of my destinations. Overall I am enjoying the guidebook.

Very thorough yet concise. Big fan of rough guides.

The print is really small and the book is dense almost more like a reference book that you read in bright light.

This 376-page book, the 7th printed edition of March 2018, is an interesting and readable (the two are not always found together) guide to the Kingdom of Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.Unlike many guides, this is not a glossy booklet dotted with colourful photographs to make it look superficially attractive, but a (literally) rough guide in terms of comparative paper finishes, but well-designed and presented, with readable text, useful maps, and (well-chosen) photographs only where space allowed. The excellent design and layout means that you don’t need unnecessary spot illustrations to break up column after column of small-printed data. The Contents areP004: Introduction (when & where to go, what to see, itineraries, etc.)P020: Basics (travelling (with & without children), accommodation, food, drink, activities, and other important stuff for visitors)P040: The GuideP040: BrusselsP096: FlandersP174: Antwerp & the NortheastP220: Hainault and Brabant WallonP250: The ArdennesP294: LuxembourgP324: Contexts (articles on history & arts, etc)P353: Flemish & French

General readers; lower division undergraduates through professionals." --R.E. Lee Jr., Miami University for CHOICE (February 2003) "This volume should command a place in all libraries and on bookshelves of all those who are seriously interested in entomology and eco-parasitology, whether they be clinicians, academics or students." --VETERINARY PARASITOLOGY (May 2003) "...is without a doubt the finest book available in English on the subject today." --FLORIDA SCIENTIST (2003) "The editiors and authors have crafted an outstanding, readable volume... Both students and professionals will find the wealth of information will serve as sound foundation for many years... As a text, this book will have a long uesful life." --Frank E. French, Georgia Southern University (June 2002) "... the text was excellent. Unlike many other edited texts, this one adhered to a similar ground plan for all chapters and thus presented an even flow from one chapter to the next. The editors asked the best people in each of the specific areas to write chapters, and this choice of authorship was reflected in the quality of the contributions." --Marc J. Klowden, University of Idaho, College of Agriculture (February 2002) "Let me start by saying this is an excellent book, probably the best text to comprehensively cover both medical and veterinary entomology." --Mike Service for ANNALS OF TROPICAL MEDICINE AND PARASITOLOGY (2002)

Medical & Veterinary Entomology is a comprehensive text and intended primarily for graduate students and upper level undergraduates studying the medical and veterinary significance of insects and related arthropods. The book will also appeal to specialists and non-specialists alike, including entomologists, parasitologists, biologists, epidemiologists, physicians, public health personnel, veterinarians, wildlife specialists and others looking for a readable, authoritative book on this topic. An entomological perspective is adopted throughout. The first two chapters provide overviews of medical-veterinary entomology and epidemiology, respectively. These are followed by individual chapters devoted to each group of insects or arachnids of medical-veterinary importance and the health problems they can cause including their role as vectors of pathogens. Each of these chapters provides an overview of the taxonomy, biology and ecology of the group, and is followed by separate sections on their medical and veterinary importance, then by a section on prevention and control and, finally, by a list of references and further reading. The contributing authors are all experts in their fields.

Drs. Gary Mullen and Lance Durden have compiled a solid text on medical entomology with the help of 23 other chapter authors and contributors. Despite the large number of chapter authors, the book chapters are consistent in their design and each includes a variety of pictures and morphologic diagrams that are necessary to understand the biology and life cycle of the particular arthropod group in question. The book has enough unity in style and format to be strongly useful as a text for classes in medical or public health or veterinary entomology. After an introduction and a chapter on epidemiology, the remaining chapters are organized in taxonomic order according to the arthropods covered. Each chapter has an extensive list of references and each chapter consistently covers taxonomy, morphology, and life cycle of the organisms discussed. In each chapter, the student will find a coherent description of taxonomy, morphology, life history, behavior and ecology, and the medical-veterinary importance of the particular group. You will find all groups of arthropods of medical and veterinary importance covered, even those of minor importance such as moths and urticating caterpillars. The chapter on mosquitoes is 59 pages long, as befits their medical importance. This book is definitely useful as a reference because of the consistent and complete coverage of medically-important arthropods. The diseases vectored by the particular families, genera and species of arthropods are covered in their respective chapters. For example, if you are most interested in ticks and Lyme disease and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, you will find that information near the end of the book.A Taxonomic Index and Subject Index are included. Many photos are in color.

this book is great...has a lot of pictures (in color) and a copious amount of information. This book is also very easy to read. For my entomology class, I was told to purchase the 2nd edition but I purchased the 1st edition instead thinking how different can they be? They aren't very different at all! most chapters are exactly the same--maybe with some updated information such as statistics and incidence. overall, i'm very pleased with this edition!

I love this book. I enjoy looking things up in it and have found the drawings and descriptions invaluable. I think it is a great book to keep on the shelf and use as needed.

very good book, the pictures drawings and details are very rich!a must buy for entomology enthusiasts

One of the lowest prices offered. Received product fast - exactly when expected as I needed this shipped super express for a course I was taking - and in perfect condition. No issues whatsoever. I would definitely buy from this online store again. Thanks! ~Michelle

Call To Arms is issues 151-156 of the popular The Walking Dead comics! As we open up this issue, Rick is helping prepare the group for war with the Whisperers but something will happen that will set things in motion for something big with Negan. We are left with a huge shocking ending to this surprising action filled issues that will leave you wanting more!I so don't want to ruin the shocking ending to this issue but I can promise you that it is AWESOME! This book was hard to review because of everything that happened with the pages that I don't want to spoil for everyone else. Everything about this book was what true Walking Dead fans love about this series and after reading this book, I so want the things that happen in the end to come true on the show!!Thank You to Robert Kirkman for having that awesome ending to what is to come in the near future!!This book came from my own personal Library!

I have been waiting for this volume to come out for a year now and it did not disappoint! I loved how amazon prime members got the chance to receive the book the day it was released. If you have been following the comics this volume is has a great plot twist.

Robert Kirkman, no doubt, enjoys giving surprises and shocking you. I've seen that, for the most part, people either hate or love The Walking Dead, there's hardly any middle ground, and I'm afraid I'm no exception. I absolutely love this comic because of how it portrays human nature in seriously desperate scenarios, plus there's zombies, gotta love 'em zombies, but mostly The Walking Dead is a tale about humanity, a story of people relating to and confronting each other in the search for survival. If you stop and think about it, it's just an exaggerated reflection of how real life works, isn't it?

I was not very happy with the past 2-3 volumes. Not the best stories in the series, and the Negan story line (which was never my favorite in the first place) was getting pretty week. But, things got VERY interesting again in this one, especially the last few pages. Can't wait for volume 27!If you were also a little unhappy with the past few volumes, don't give up hope. Give this volume a try... it's definitely worth it.

Love the walking dead series. Just as good as the show. Both have strong story lines and the show mirrors the comic book every once in a while which is cool. These prices are better than at a local comic store.

I have all the other volumes of this series and if you have been collecting them I highly recommend this volume as well. The stories are intense and keep you coming back for more.

I am still shocked by Alpha and her line boundary. And now Negan!

I love being able to get 6 issues in one volume! Finished this one and immediately went and ordered the next one. Just like the show.. The Walking Dead will leave you wanting more!

This book was recommend purchase for DesignLab and it's a plethora of information. The author has a solid understanding and grasp of today's market. I recommended this book to my mentor as well. If you're studying UI or UX Design or want to know about the business of digital design I highly recommend it. Caveat, the book is huge I don't recommend you carry it around however if possible. Hopefully it will be available in ebook format.

Alan Cooper created Goal-Directed Design methodology, which he introduced in his influential 1998 book The Inmates Are Running the Asylum: Why High-Tech Products Drive Us Crazy and How to Restore the Sanity. He also founded Cooper, a leading interaction design consultancy. In his foreword to Designing for the Digital Age: How to Create Human-Centered Products and Services, he says this about the author:"Kim Goodwin has been a prime participant in the dialog at Cooper since 1997. She has been one of the major contributors to the development of our design methodology. She is an authority on design, problem scoping, engagement management, and design documentation. Kim has labored in the trenches in a broad variety of design segments, from clinical medicine to conceptual blockbusting. She has led groups of designers, coordinating their work, and synchronizing it with the needs of some very demanding clients."And she has taught others to design. Many hundreds of people have gotten a taste of Kim's clarity, patience, thoroughness, and rigor by attending her presentations and at conferences, her one-day field seminars, or her design courses. In fact, Kim has been the primary creator of training content for our very successful Cooper U classes. Over the years, her particular expertise at observation, synthesis, and communication while in charge of other design teams and honed in the classroom, led her to write this book. Much of the content and wisdom gleaned from those classes is evident here."It is quickly apparent that the book was produced from tried and true application, not just concepts and theory. It is filled with comprehensive examples of real product designs, that not only clearly illustrate the processes, but also gives them enormous credibility. At the same time, the foundation of the book is a deeply held conviction about design and best way to do it."Design is the craft of visualizing concrete solutions that serve human needs and goals within certain constraints. Design is a craft because it is neither science nor art, but somewhere in between. In order for design to be design and not art, it must serve human needs and goals. Finally, design always happens within certain constraints.""Goal-Directed Design encompasses the design of a product's behavior, visual form, and physical form. Its fundamental premise is that the best way to design a successful product is to focus on achieving goals.""The Goal-Directed method is a set of tools and best practices developed entirely through practice in the real world. The method consists of four components: principles, patterns, process, and practices."After briefly discussing principles (guidelines for creating good solutions under specific circumstances) and patterns (types of solutions that tend to be useful for certain classes of problems), the book devotes almost 700 pages to a detailed description of process and practices. The process and practices are grouped into seven stages of a design project:1. Getting Started2. Research3. Modeling4. Requirements5. Framework6. Detailed Design7. Ensuring SuccessOne of my initial concerns was that the process and practices described require a large team of diverse specialists, which few companies can afford, working over a relatively long total timeline. While the book states that the methodology can be scaled for smaller teams and a shorter timeline, I had my doubts. However, I recently had an opportunity to develop a project plan directly with Cooper for the design of role-based user interfaces for genomics research laboratory software, and I saw, firsthand, that the process can be effectively scaled to address limited resources and tight timelines.Alan Cooper also writes, "This book is comprehensive in its scope, exhaustive in its depth, authoritative in its practice, and priceless in its wisdom. It will certainly become the anchor document for an entire practice. While I expect to see it on the bookshelves of every practicing designer, I further expect that it will spend the lion's share of its time off the shelf and at the elbow of hard-working designers."I've read about 60% of the book over 24 months in a non-linear manner, and it is very possible that I will never read the complete book. However, it has taken its place with a select group of books that I refer to constantly for real-world problem solving. This is not a book to read, but rather a book to use, and I strongly recommend it for anyone involved in any function of interaction design.

From assembling a design team and planning design projects to filed study and interviews, from persona development to detailed design and usability testing — the book covers it all. In well structured manner the author step by step explains all whats and whys behind each step in design process. If you want to systematize whatever you learned from your own practice — this book is for you. If you're looking for ways to expand your influence as a product designer in your organization — this book is for you. If you're at the forefront of bringing a design centered culture into your company — this book is definitely for you.Example interview with author's annotations and example of persona's story are really insightful. Thank you, Kim.

I read this book for school and appreciated how concise yet wholesome each chapter was. It's heavy material, but the content is critical for the UX practitioner. The chapters about different deliverables are really fleshed out which can make some of the reading tedious, but the book really does hit all corners.

Designing for the Digital Age: How to Create Human-Centered Products and Services serves as an excellent guide and reference for new and experienced human centered design practitioners. Kim Goodwin (VP of Cooper) does a great job translating her goal-oriented design processes into clear and understandable terms. Human/user centered design books can easily be littered with heavy jargon or unintelligible references that make it difficult or impossible to understand or practice. Goodwin makes a conscious effort to explain and visualize many of the concepts introduced in each chapter and keeps the research lingo within reason. For example, in Chapter 12: Defining Requirements, Goodwin dispels what requirements aren't (i.e. features or specifications) and promptly outlines what is needed to generate effective requirements (i.e. data needs, functional needs, product / service qualities, constraints). In addition, Goodwin's writing style guarantees a cognitive learning experience with most readers by providing multiple exercises and scenarios that engage and evoke a desire for comprehension. The photography, diagrams, and charting are plentiful and supplement the subject matter effectively also.I believe that this book is easily a pylon supporting the ever-swelling weight of UCD with its hoard of overlapping design disciplines. I recommend it to anyone interested in design or the design process...Table of Contents:Getting Started Chapter 1: Goal-Directed Product and Service Design Chapter 2: Assembling the Team Chapter 3: Project PlanningResearch Chapter 4: Research Fundamentals Chapter 5: Understanding the Business Chapter 6: Planning User Research Chapter 7: Understanding Potential Users and Customers Chapter 8: Example Interview Chapter 9: Other Sources of Information and InspirationModeling Chapter 10: Making Sense of Your Data: Modeling Chapter 11: PersonasRequirements Chapter 12: Defining Requirements Chapter 13: Putting It All Together: The User and Domain AnalysisFramework Chapter 14: Framework Definition: Visualizing Solutions Chapter 15: Principles and Patterns for Framework Design Chapter 16: Designing the Form Factor and Interaction Framework Chapter 17: Principles and Patterns in Design Language Chapter 18: Developing the Design Language Chapter 19: Communicating the Framework and Design LanguageDetailed Design Chapter 20: Detailed Design: Making Your Ideas Real Chapter 21: Detailed Design Principles and Patterns Chapter 22: Detailed Design Process and Practices Chapter 23: Evaluating Your Design Chapter 24: Communicating Detailed DesignEnsuring Success Chapter 25: Supporting Implementation and Launch Chapter 26: Improving Design Capabilities in Individuals and Organizations

Haven’t read it yet. It just lays on the shelf so people think I’m very sophisticated person. Hopefully I’ll read it one day.

What can be said about it? It's the translated work of Sigmund Freud. As a Behavior Analyst by trade, I am fascinated by the formative thinkers, Freud and Jung at the moment. These texts can be a bit daunting to read. The fact that it's translated means lots of extra brain power to make sense of some of the assertions Freud makes, but it's a worthwhile read.

Amazon and Pink Panda should both be ashamed of this 99 cent "edition", though in fairness, I suppose you get what you pay for, and I more or less assume the text is complete. But no pagination, the many footnotes are not linked, and the so-called Table of Contents reduced me to helpless giggling:Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3 Chapter 4 Chapter 5 Chapter 5A Chapter 5B Chapter 5C Chapter 5D Chapter 6 Chapter 6A Chapter 6B Chapter 6C Chapter 6D Chapter 6E Chapter 6F Chapter 6G Chapter 6H Chapter 6I Chapter 7 Chapter 7A Chapter 7B Chapter 7C Chapter 7D Chapter 7E Chapter 7FNo, those are not links, it looks exactly like that, and is every bit as silly as it looks here. This public-domain hackwork should be free, not even 99 cents; in 5 minutes a competent secretary could have added the chapter links, and probably in another half hour do the footnotes. I don't think anybody spent even 15 minutes "preparing" this "edition", and every sale is 100% profit. Caveat emptor.Note that there is ANOTHER Kindle edition that appears to be the real thing, but for some reason did not appear in my original search, leading me to purchase this infuriating book. Don't; go here instead: The Interpretation of Dreams: The Complete and Definitive Text

It's interesting to see an example of the mind of Sigmund Freud. I have heard great thing about him and been wanting to read his books. This one, in particular is a great read. It can be a great start into manifesting your own dreams.

Great reading and learning Freud's Interpretations of Dreams.

by the ever-turgid Strachey, who loves medical metaphors and Latinized phrasings more than Freud loved literary clarity; but aside from that, THE classic of psychoanalysis, and the first (and, for Freud, the favorite) of Freud's great works. One can imagine that modern dream research would have interested Freud as much as its reductionist speculations would have amused him. Certainly he'd never have argued that because a patient's stomach hurt during a painful recital of an early memory, this indigestible piece of emotional trauma was "caused" by the gastronomic rejection of a burnt piece of toast eaten just before the session. OF COURSE psychical activity has a physical substrate. And, perhaps, vice versa. What he'd have wanted to know was: in what psychological situation was all this embedded? One can't help but admire the boldness and honesty with which Freud presented his own dreams and associations. We might speculate in hindsight that Irma, the partially cured patient whom Freud tried to talk out of her hysteria, showed up in his dream with throat and stomach symptoms and an illness caused by a bad injection to protest the way he injected women with his sex-etiology theories, thereby in effect silencing their true voice; and smile at Freud's dream of an orator named Lecher, a dream he had shortly after accepting a position in which he did a lot of public speaking about psychology. But that we can speculate thus we owe largely to the techniques inspired by Freud himself. He was often wrong, but the spirit of his endeavor lives on.

Interesting read but fairly antiquated. Important for understanding modernest American writing.

complex but worth it. you will understand dreams now
